It’s About Time … June 26, 2006

It seems as though all I’ve been able to do lately is post through my frustration or anger, and I’d say it’s about time for a positive post. Wouldn’t you?

Good news! I found out today that I was accepted for the Graduate Assistant position for the Institute for Faith and Learning at Baylor. For those of you that don’t know, this means tuition remission plus a stipend. In other words, I’m being paid to go to school. It’s like I’ve found my own little piece of heaven.

Here’s to buying school supplies, books, and homework! At least for now.

If We Are the Body June 14, 2006

Some situations I’ve encountered recently have me thinking about what it means to live out the commands of Christ (think “Sermon on the Mount”) in everyday life. And let’s face it, not many of us (myself included) really do it.

I am guilty of not loving my brothers and sisters. I am guilty of prejudice and undeserved antagonism. I am guilty.

The part where God’s grace and mercy comes in still has me baffled. I think in my very, very limited human mind, I cannot possibly comprehend something so great and so powerful. But I am thankful for it everyday of my life.

Newsflash! June 2, 2006

I am officially a GRAD STUDENT (International Relations) at Baylor University.

Now, I know some of you are wondering when all this came about … after all, New York was in the plans for the longest time. Honestly, I’ve only been working on this Baylor plan for about the last month and wasn’t telling too many people about it. But I got my acceptance letter yesterday, so now pretty much everyone gets to know.

Waco, here I come … again!

p.s. Would you, dear readers, pray that a graduate assistantship comes through for me? I have a good feeling, but a little extra petitioning can never hurt.
