This year was my first Baylor Homecoming as an alumna. Admittedly, it didn’t feel quite that way because I’m back here at good ol’ BU working on a Master’s degree, but nevertheless it was a memorable and fun weekend.
Homecoming has always been one of my favorite times of year – I put it up in the same category as my birthday and Christmas. I suppose that’s to be expected considering I’ve only missed three Baylor Homecomings in my entire life. If you know how old I am, you just deduced that I have attended 20 Baylor Homecomings so far … I think I may hold the record in percentage per lifetime span.
The bonfire is my favorite part, not only because I have a slightly unhealthy fascination with fire but because you’re always bound to run into people you haven’t seen in years and might have thought you would never see again. It’s just fun. Of course the parade comes in at a close second, mostly because my last two years of college I was able to participate in it thanks to StuFu. Good times.
The best part about this year (besides Candace coming into town for the whole weekend, obviously) was that Baylor managed to pull out a STUNNING 4th quarter victory against KU. I honestly do not remember the last Homecoming that Baylor won a game. This game ranks in my top three BU football memories, accompanied by the win against the Aggies a couple of years ago and a win against UT sometime in my high school years. I think I lost my voice every time.
Anyway, now that I’ve waxed nostalgic I’ll share some photo highlights from this most recent Homecoming weekend. Enjoy!
