Fomenting A Rebellion

“If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.” ::Abigail Adams

Thoughts of the Day November 5, 2008

Filed under: social issues, thought of the day — ldgafford @ 6:58 pm

Since when is it wrong …

- to expect those who prosper because of our nation’s economic policies to help those caught in the vicious cycle of poverty due to those same policies

- to want my tax dollars to go toward healthcare that will keep people well instead of toward a war that cannot be won and takes hundreds of lives every month

- to want to bring home soldiers rather than send them out to war (And don’t even think about telling me I don’t understand, because I see file after file EVERY DAY at the VA about the trauma and injury soldiers experience after coming home from war. It only makes me that more passionate about pacifism.)

- to believe that a world without nuclear weapons and the threat of nuclear holocaust is possible in our lifetime

- to believe that everyone deserves equal rights and opportunity, no matter gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation

- to believe that a woman has the right to choose what she does or does not do with her body

- to cling to hope instead of hate

There’s a lot of ignorant comments being made in multiple venues, and I’ll address those another day. Today, however, I am celebrating HOPE and CHANGE.
